Perhaps you know a busy child. One or more of them may even live in your house. And largely they move through life with big smiles and enthusiasm for whatever activity appears on their crowded little calendars.
But do you ever wonder if just a little too much may be filling their days?
During the last year of his life my father was a quiet observer of the tireless pace I maintained to entertain and enrich my very young children. He advised me to slow down.
But, I was moving too fast to hear him.
However, his message simmered in my psyche. Three years later, during one of those moments in my car (we’ve all had them, I know) when snacks were spilling everywhere, little fingers fumbled with shoelaces and tiny tears of exhaustion punctuated “the whine” to just go home - that's when my dad’s words echoed in my head and in my heart.
So I wrote this story as a reminder for us all that A Moment of Quiet is Nothing to Fear.
Gorgeous illustrations and playful art direction accompany a lively description of how the star of the story, Coco, uncovers the magic of her imagination when she receives the unexpected directive from her beloved grandfather to just do nothing for awhile.
Written for children, but equally appropriate for audiences of all ages, this message is not only timely, but timeless. As we take a closer look at our values as a generation, we can ALL benefit from an effort to slow down, if only for a moment.
It is my sincerest hope this book inspires you to help clear some clutter from our children’s lives and give them some time and some space to simply let go. In order to do so, we must all believe that A Moment of Quiet is Nothing to Fear.
