A friend recently sent me a copy of an article in Time magazine's January 21st, 2009 edition entitled, Books Gone Wild: The Digital Age Reshapes Literature.
It is an interesting read, especially for other writers who are exploring the option to self-publish. In sum, the technology is clearly available to enable all would-be authors, including me, to bring a product to market.
But in order to be truly successful as a writer, the real work comes next as the channels for distribution remain in favor of the established publishing houses. With savvy marketing and a lot of legwork, it is indeed possible to inspire booksellers to stock your work on their shelves.
Book by book, the industry is indeed in the midst of an exciting evolution.
